Nail or screw in the tread? We plug the puncture and reinflate right where you are. No spare needed, no wheel removal, and you keep the tire you already own.
No spare and the tire cannot be plugged? We pull the wheel assembly, take it to a tire shop, and return to install it. This one takes longer — we tell you upfront what to expect.

If the puncture is in the tread and not the sidewall, usually yes — and that is the better outcome, since you keep the tire and skip a shop visit. Sidewall damage cannot be safely plugged, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Many newer vehicles ship with an inflator kit instead of a spare. If the tire can be plugged, we do it on-site. If it cannot, we remove the wheel assembly, take it to a tire shop for replacement, and come back to install it.
